Who we are
The Temperate Gardener is a specialised urban horticulture practice dedicated to creating sustainable, thriving greenery for Hong Kong's high-density environments. Our approach bridges the gap between hands-on local experience, international botanical research, and the unique conditions of Hong Kong’s apartments, rooftops, and balconies.
We established our practice following an intensive 12-month research and trial phase across Asia, Europe, and Australia. By studying global urban gardening models and testing climate-resilient species—including our signature Rhododendron vireya collection—we developed a made-for-Hong Kong system designed specifically for successful 'tiny-space' gardening.

Because your apartment isn't big enough for a dead-plant identity crisis. We begin with a free initial phone or email consultation to discuss your space and budget. If you are ready to move forward, we will conduct an on-site audit to analyse the exact light, humidity, and wind patterns of your space. You'll receive a tailored, step-by-step roadmap for your greenery—giving you a thriving home without the guesswork or the heartbreak.
Garden Rejuvenation
Perfect for spaces up to 700 sq. ft., this dedicated three-hour intensive is designed to rescue your plants and get your greenery back on track. We take a thorough, hands-on approach: professional pruning, organic feeding, pest treatment, and customised soil refreshes. You will also receive our custom Care Guide packed with strategies to keep your space thriving long after we've gone.
Botanic Maintenance
Keep your urban oasis looking pristine year-round without lifting a finger. Designed for spaces up to 700 sq. ft., our ongoing maintenance visits ensure your plants always get exactly what they need. During each session, we handle detailed plant grooming, pest prevention, organic seasonal feeding, and soil optimisation.
